Little Stuff

There seems to be an abundance of Sew-Along/ Quilt-Alongs going on at the moment. And I think I've joined in on almost every one. Temecula Quilt Co. is starting a new one today and I'm sure I'll jump in on that one, too! And Lori has started a new quilt-along, too. It's called Abundance and her instructions are here.

My favorites are the ones that result in little blocks so I can dig into my overflowing bin of scraps. Have you joined Pam Buda's sew-along? She has given instructions for 4 little blocks with tiny little pieces. You'll find the instructions here. It's not too late to jump in. Here are mine.

They are 4.5" and that courthouse steps is paper pieced! These were challenging but so much fun!

Cheri has been offering a sew-along called Simply Sweet with little 3.5" blocks. Her instructions are here. I made 24 blocks but I haven't completed the little quilt yet.

Cheri gave instructions to complete a cute little doll quilt and used her leftover blocks to make a table runner. It is really cute so I think I might just copy her idea.

I've made another block that Lisa Bongean has been sharing on her blog. This one is #12. I'm not sure what I will do with it yet. Each little star within this one finishes at 2 inches! This one was really a challenge.

Searching through my scrap bin, I found several little orphan blocks that had been rejected for one reason or another. Usually the measurements turned out wrong. Sometimes it was the colors or contrast that didn't work. Anyway, I decided to try using them as the centers of blocks for a new table runner. I have 4 done so far. I'm aiming for 6" finished blocks.

And while I was in the mood to make tiny blocks, I made this.

It measures 12" X 13". I actually made 2 of these. One is for a friend that I will be seeing in February. Don't say anything, though. I want to surprise her!!

I think we're on the same wave-length with our projects! It's such a great feeling to start and finish something so quickly, huh? I haven't started Pam Buda's 4th block yet, but will get to it soon. Good to see you post - thanks for all the great pictures!

Julie, I love it all!
I have been saving Pam's instructions, but haven't started on them yet. Yours look wonderful!
My Simply Sweet top is all pieced. Your blocks made me look twice--I have the same green and gold you are using ion your double 4-patches.
I have saved and printed Lisa's Scrap Basket Blocks and have been gathering fabrics to make them as a BOM this year.
Your last two photos I cannot match (we were on a roll for a bit there), but I especially love the flying geese.

Love, love, love all your mini quilts and little blocks! I'm drawn to your selection of fabrics for all your mini's (and the ones you posted on 12/29/2012). Understand your blogging blahs, but please don't stop! Even if you only blog monthly, it's worth the wait to see what you have made!
