It amazes me that some people are able to find the motivation to keep posting regularly. A few even post daily. That kind of self discipline is something I admire. I am inclined to spend a lot of time thinking about composing something to post but then I don't take the time to actually write a post. Lately I have wondered if I really want to continue blogging.
I started my blog to keep a journal of my quilting projects. I was so excited to discover quilt blogs and I wanted to join the giant quilt guild of people around the world who freely shared their projects. I wanted to be part of the spirit of sharing and friendship. Even when I don't post, I still update my lists. I still read all my favorite blogs almost daily and have noticed that quite a few haven't posted in a long time. Maybe others are feeling the blogging blahs, too. I still find lots of inspiration and ideas to put on my bucket list.
I just haven't felt motivated to post anything. I have been making things. Just nothing I thought was anything special. Nothing that would be inspiring to anyone else. Just more little scrap quilts.
Everyone else seems to be doing a lot of appliqué and difficult pieced blocks with curved parts and Y-seams. These quilts are gorgeous but beyond my ability. I guess I'm a little embarrassed to share the simple stuff I make.
But I do want to keep my journal up to date. And I do want to share with other quilters. So I do need to motivate myself to post. That would be my first goal for the new year...to post on some sort of regular basis. It's time to make some new lists and set some new goals for the new year. So my first goal is to snap out of my blogging blahs and start posting again.

Julie sometimes you just can't beat simple scrappy little quilts :) hope you lift out of the blahs soon.
I'm really glad that you didn't say you would quit blogging. My abilities are very similar to yours - so your quilts inspire me to keep quilting. I don't get enough done to blog about very often, but - like you - I like to post what I finish so I have a record of it. If it inspires someone or if it happens to be pleasing to someone's eye, that's a bonus.
I've started stitching together some of the 2" strips I won - but have a long way to go. I've been busy for the past few weeks caring for a hospice patient - I'll get back to my stitching soon.
I love scrap quilts and also use lots of the simple shapes. Your quilts are always inspiring. Keep on showing us your 'stuff'.
I love scrap quilts. Some of them seem like I could make them. I enjoy seeing the quilts you have made.
A quilt doesn't have to be full of complex shapes, difficult construction, or applique in order to be worth looking at or writing about. As long as you are enjoying the process, keep doing what you do, and we'll all enjoy it with you.
To me, simple quilts are more beautiful than the elaborate ones because they allow the fabrics and the design to shine. I may gasp at the intricate quilts and admire them briefly, but I adore the traditional patterns. To me, they are what quilting is all about - humble fabrics (remnants of worn-out clothing) and visions of women creating something functional and beautiful for their families. The simple quilt patterns reflect the determination of our ancestors. To me, that is beauty.
I love seeing simple quilts. I mostly make scrappy easy projects. Keep showing your quilts, it's very inspiring.
I scan the blogs looking for beautiful little scrap quilts like yours, for inspiration and just because I love them, especially the nine-patch. Keep them coming!

Julie, Julie, Julie! I love seeing all your little quilts and the efforts you make with your scraps, your humor and your interest in the world's affairs. I hope you decide to keep on poking your head into blogland, however infrequent. Me, I can't post every day or multiple times a day either, but manage about three times a week or maybe up to 5 times. I'm glad you are still visiting and getting inspiration!
Keep them coming, I love seeing little quilts like these. I like when bloggers post details about the piece, issues they had, finished sizes, different auditions of borders, etc. It's what we are all doing in our own sewing room. Hey, I love to applique, but I admire the tiny pieces some work with. Keep sharing.
These quilts are lovely! :)
I could have written this post. I hardly blog anymore. I love reading blogs but just can't get interested in posting on mine. I may post some Christmas things here this month but on the other hand I may not. Not sure if I will continue either.
I don't applique, either, and I don't do tricky Y seams. What you posted here are the kind of quilts that make my creative juices flow and my heart sing. I love little scrap quilts, and the more I see the more inspired I feel!
Julie, these little quilts are treasures!!! So charming and "down homey"!! Just my kind of stuff! I, too, hit slumps in my posting - but I love your quilts!! The star quilt from your last post is just scrumdilicious!!!
Have a blessed Holiday season!
Simple little scrap quilts are my favorites and I NEVER get tired of seeing them - please post when you're able - I love it when you do!
BTW - have you headed south for the winter yet?
Even simple quilts can be inspiring. Color combos interesting or an idea for what to do with some scrap pieces. So keep on posting the pictures.
I love seeing your beautiful quilts. I hope you keep on sharing them with us.
Your little quilts are GREAT!!!!! OMG I love them and am so glad you didn't say you were stop blogging. SERIOUSLY loving what I see here!!! You've inspired me to get busy.
I love finding that you have posted---and I love all of your quilts and quiltlets. :)
I love all your posts - it always cheers me up a little when I see you blog on my l ist of new posts - great quilts too. Sometimes the simple quilts are the most charming!
I'm so glad I checked up on you today and found a new post. I've missed you. Hope your blogging blahs go away.
I love your little quilts! I'm so glad you shared them.
I started blogging for the exact reasons that you state. I also hit "blogging blahs" frequently. It used to worry me and I thought I might be disappointing people and myself. But, then I remember that my blog is just a journal for myself. If someone else reads it that's great if not, no big deal. It's important to me that I keep track.
As for you - your quilts are wonderful and precious and PLEASE don't quit posting them.
Your post really echoes how I feel at the moment. I'd rather be sewing than trying to think of something to write about and as a result I've been lax in my blogging too. I also find that people just don't leave that many comments and I think part of that is due to people reading blogs on tablets/ipads...it's a shame because without the comments I kinda feel like what's the point.
Your little quilts are wonderful. They may be simple designs, but I think those are the best. About the blogging, I have been lax as well. Other things have interrupted my blogging and sewing. I have not finished anything for a while, so I have nothing to post about in my blog. But I will get back to it. Like you, I also like to use my blog as my quilt journal so to speak. Please do not stop bloggingl I like to read your posts and see your projects.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
I have had my blog for 6 years. Believe me we all go through blogging droughts. I continue to post haphazardly because it keeps me connected to people like you. I read my favs every day just like you. don't feel obligated or compelled to blog and don't feel your quilts are unworthy!! they are great!
Remember blogging like quilting is supposed to be FUN! do it when the spirit hits you. We will be here waiting!
Right there with you - I can't believe I might be losing interest in blogging . . . . I have SO much to say *lol* Hoping to feel rested and refreshed come the new year. I'm pinning a LOT of hope on 2013 - 2012 had many ups and downs for us. Hoping for a year of smooth sailing.
I don't think you can ever beat a good, simple scrap quilt...keep those pictures coming! I'm looking forward to 2013 and really ready to say goodbye to 2012...it was a difficult one. Here's to a NEW YEAR!
I love simple quilts. They let the thouhtful fabric choices and workmanship shine. I love the quilts in your blog--they are inspiring.
I check in on your blog and always enjoy what you've shared. Please don't stop. Scrappy and simple works for me.
